Update for Water Training 2021
Nigel Haslam from Swim4Paws and Pat Booth are planning to host Spanish Water Dog specific training sessions for SWD’s at his indoor facilities near Sheffield, UK
Pat is offering specific training or testing towards the SWDC Bronze and Silver level Natural Aptitude Tests. Gold level will also be available for more experienced dogs and handlers. On fulfilment of the tests, Certificates will be available on application to the SWDC Hon.Sec Jennifer Abrahams or the new Committee Water Coordinator Kate Wilden.
Nigel and Pat encourage you to team up with your dog in the water and have fun while learning. Equipment is available at Swim4Paws although we do recommend you provide a 4 point harness for your dog.
For more information on what is involved on the Natural Aptitude Tests please visit the Water Work page on the Spanish Water Dog Club website by following the link here https://www.spanishwaterdogclub.co.uk/water-training
The sessions will start at 9am and will run through the day in 30 minute time slots until around 6pm. I would recommend at least 2 slots with a 30 minute break for dogs over 6 months old.
The cost is £30 per dog per 30 minute session.
A collection bucket will also being doing the rounds on each date. Donations toward the SWD DNA Research Project for Primary Glaucoma would be gratefully received.
Please book your slots directly with Nigel or Alison at Swim 4Paws by phoning 07831 879809
These slots will fill up quickly and you need to book early.
Slots not filled by SWD on these dates will go the Nigel's regular clients.
Breed specific SWD Weekends are as follows:
12th and 13th June 2021
10th and 11th July 2021
25th and 26th September 2021
(Please note the previously advertised SWDC May and August weekends are no longer available)
We are being allowed to advertise these sessions through the SWDC website so you really need to jump on these slots now to make sure you secure your place.
Nigel will of course have more sessions outside of these weekends if you prefer.
Pat is kindly giving her time to support fundraising for her and the clubs chosen cause, so please help by donating towards enabling DNA research to help eradicate the disabling condition of Primary Glaucoma in SWD.
Donations will be gratefully accepted on the day. Donations can also be made either via the home page of the Spanish Water Dog Club website or directly via the Go Fund Me campaign which can be accessed by clicking on the image to the right.
Sessions timings are strictly adhered to, therefore should you wish to discuss with Pat what you want to achieve from the sessions in order to maximise the time in the water, please feel free to email her via spanishwaterdogs@icloud.com
