Water Training dates for 2023 are now available to be booked!

Last year saw our Lead Water Trainer, Kate Wilden, take to the road to deliver a number of highly successful water sessions to our members,.
Due to unprecedented demand, she has been working hard in the off season to recruit and train new assessors, so that we can make more events available in more parts of the country. Because of all her hard work, we are now excited to announce the first of our 2023 water training dates are available to be booked.
Currently we have 5 dates arranged, running from May through July, with new locations this year, including Northern Ireland and East Anglia. From Scotland to Somerset, we will have a range of locations, environments and Water Trainers, helping each dog/human partnership gain experience and confidence, to successfully pass their SWD Club Water Awards.
We welcome dogs and their handlers of all abilities and experience to come and take part. Each event will have a lead trainer who will become the point of contact moving towards the event and who will conduct the training and assessments on the day. They will liaise with you to determine what level your dog is at and whether there are specific things they need to know to assist your dog in getting the most out of the training. If you are unsure whether it is for you, just take a look at all our previous successful events and learn more about the Award Levels and Environments on the Water pages on the Club website.
Dates and locations of the forthcoming training sessions are as follows:
Date | Location | Levels Available | Lead Trainer | Application Closing Date |
Sun 14th May 2023 | Silver Sands, Aberdour, Fife | 1 - 2 | Richard Rogers | 14th April 2023 |
Sat 3rd & Sun 4th June 2023 | Brean Beach, Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset | 1 - 4 | Kate Wilden | 3rd May 2023 |
Sat 17th & Sun 18th June 2023 | Aberdeen, Scotland | 1 - 4 | Richard Rogers | 17th May 2023 |
Sun 2nd July 2023 | tbc, Northern Ireland | 1 - 2 | Adrian Dornford-Smith | 2nd June 2023 |
Sat 8th July 2023 | Clacton-on-Sea, east Anglia | 1 - 2 | Kate Wilden | 8th June 2023 |
For one day events, attendees will have a 2 hour slot with 5 other participants with similar training needs. In these sessions we will aim to work through the exercises with you and your dog towards the most appropriate SWD Club Water Award.
Where two day events are taking place, we will be able to offer an additional 1-to-1 session, where we will work with you and your dog in 20 minute focused session, building on the work they achieved on Saturday.

The cost for each event is as follows:
Session Type | SWDC Members price | Non-members price |
Group session, maximum 6 dogs (2 hours) | £15.00 | £20.00 |
Follow up 1-to-1 session (20mins) | £10.00 | £15.00 |
Space will be limited to first come first served, so it is recommended that you book on early to avoid disappointment. To register your interest please complete the below application form and email it to water.swdc@gmail.com
