Changing Times with Coronavirus

Updated: Jul 27, 2020

With the impact of the Coronavirus, 2020 has turned out to be a very different year. All types of Dog shows, fundraising weekends, training and competitions have had to be cancelled or postponed. The chance to meet new curly friends and catch up with our old ones has been curtailed; Crufts 2020 feels like an age ago.

Missing our Spanish friends and family has become the norm, with most of us have resorted to Social Media, the internet, or even the old-fashioned telephone to keep in contact. The Spanish Water Dog Club committee are no exception.

With the AGM initially postponed and with various items to discuss, the committee held its inaugural Zoom committee meeting in June 2020. Once we had all got our heads around the technology, we were able to get on with the business of supporting you and your dogs.

We were able to discuss items across the web, with the traditional ‘thumbs up’ to vote on various matters. What was particularly great was not having to spend 2-4 hours driving to and home from the meeting, which also meant that the majority of the committee could attend and be present.

It was so successful, that we were able to have another one in July, where we discussed various matters including the upcoming Spanish Water Dog water weekend. The plan moving forward is to continue to use the web for the majority of Committee meetings. However, we will aim to meet at least once a year face-to-face, which will hopefully open up the committee to members that have not been able to attend committee meetings.

So the year may have paused, but your Committee is now up and running using new technologies, and keen to reach out to all lovers and owners of our lovely breed.
