We welcomed our lovely curly friends and their owners to Stoneleigh Park, Coventry, hosted by City of Birmingham Championship Show on Sunday 4th September 2022. The new layout saw us in huge marquees with flooring and green carpet instead of the previous concrete floored cattle sheds. Whilst a little muggy, everyone seemed to appreciate the brightness, new layout and facilities in the hall.
43 dogs were entered, with breed enthusiast and advocate, Pat Booth, fulfilling her first CC appointment, following on from the COB judging. We also welcomed Kirsty Watts to judge the Special Awards classes.
Taking center stage on our trophy table was the fabulous Best In Show Cup, generously donated to the Club by Carol Palumbo and Fiona Donaldson. Fiona also kindly donated the medals for each of the class winners.
Pat found her Bitch CC Winner, Best of Breed and Best in Show in Tracey Whitehead's 5 year old, home bred girl, 'Pabiaga Kemina', who won the Open Bitch class. Tracey was ecstatic, as having won the Bitch CC earlier in the day, this was Mena's third and crowning CC, making her a Show Champion (subject to KC confirmation).
Best Dog, Best Opposite Sex in Show and Reserve Best in Show, went to Natalie and Joe Spencer's 'Valentisimo's Has To Be', winner of the Open Dog class.
Best Veteran in Show was the winner of Veteran Dog 'Josalyn Manolito in Seasmoke and Best Opposite Sex Veteran was 'Josalyn Juananci', both home bred by Lynn Napier (shown below).
Best Puppy in Show went to 'Zorrazo Villain of Circumstance' owned by Kate Hodgkinson (below).
A full report from the show, together with a gallery of photographs from the day and the Judges' Critiques will be uploaded very soon.
Huge thanks to our Show Secretary and Show Manager, Ray McDonald, who kept things running smoothly, steward Sue Nicholls-Ward and to our replacement photographer, Lauren Bindza.
